Pooch Plunge Keep cool in Wet Zone’s lap pool and lazy river. The event also offers dog-friendly vendors, raffles and cool concessions. Hosted by Friends of Rowlett Animals.

Mesquite
RESCHEDULED: Doggie Splash Day Dogs can play in the lap pool and wading pool and dive from the 1-meter diving board. Prizes will be awarded for the cutest pet swimsuit and to the winners of a pet and owner lookalike contest, dog paddle race and diving competition.
9 a.m. to noon at Vanston Pool, 2913 Oates Drive, Mesquite. $5 for one dog and one person, $2 for each additional dog, $1 for spectators.
Richardson
Dog Splash Day Richardson AnimaLuv hosts a fun pool fest with live music, dog demos, wildlife exhibit, nail clipping service, vendors and concessions. Rescue groups will be in the park with pets available for adoption. Proceeds benefit the Richardson Animal Shelter.

Dog-A-Poolooza The fenced-in pool and wading pool are open for unleashed swimming hosted by Garland Pawsibilities. Besides fun in the pool, there will be dog groomers, rescue groups and vendors.
2 to 6 p.m. at Holford Pool, 2322 Homestead Place, Garland. $5 per dog, $1 per owner (cash only).
Paco’s Poochie Plunge Paddle alongside your dog in the Calypso Cooler lazy river at Bahama Beach water park. Take a selfie with mascot Paco the Parrot and lounge poolside with cool drinks and other treats. Visitors can win door prizes and pups can compete in contests and win goodie baskets.

Dallas
Dog Day Afternoon Enjoy the last swim at the Lake Highlands pool, which will be replaced next summer with a brand new facility. Doggies can enter a swimsuit competition and a distance splash contest.
2 to 5 p.m. at Lake Highlands North Pool, 9940 White Rock Trail, Dallas. $5 per dog, free for owners.
Frisco
Paws in the Pool Splash in the Lagoon Pool or float down the Lazy River with your doggie. There will be separate swim times available for large and small dogs.
9:30 to 11 a.m. for dogs up to 35 pounds, 1:30 to 3 p.m. for dogs 36 pounds and over, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for all dogs at Frisco Water Park, 5828 Nancy Jane Lane, Frisco. $8 for one dog and one human, $2 for each additional person.
Garland
Wags & Waves Beach party includes access to all the park’s water attractions and slides with separate areas for large and small breeds. Doggie costume contests, amazing pet tricks, goodie bags, vendors and concessions will add to the fun. Proceeds benefit the animal nonprofits Cat Matchers, Dallas Companion Animal Project, DFW Rescue Me, Feral Friends and Legacy Boxer Rescue.
SEPTEMBER 23
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hawaiian Falls, 4550 N. Garland Ave., Garland. $22 for one person and up to two dogs.
Grapevine
Doggie Dive In Pups can have a blast in and out of the pool with distance diving competition and a dogige swimsuit pageant.
10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Pleasant Glade Pool, 1805 Hall-Johnson Road, Grapevine. $5 per dog, free for owners. Limit of two dogs per person.
Lewisville
Doggie Dive-In Dogs can take a morning dip in the pool and compete for canine prizes and treats in a variety of cute contests: best tricks, best costume, longest jump and fastest ball retrieval.
9:30 a.m. to noon at Sun Valley Aquatic Center, 801 S. Valley Parkway, Lewisville. Admission is $4 per dog, free for humans.
Plano
K-9 Kerplunk Dog Swim Drop in for a dogs-only swim party in the outdoor shallow pool. Admission is a donation to the Plano Animal Shelter, either money or goods. Check the website for a list of suggested items.
9 a.m. to noon at Oak Point Recreation Center Pool, 6000 Jupiter Road, Plano.
Mansfield
Hounds at Hawaiian Falls Dog-friendly day at the water park includes fun in the Waikiki Beach Wave Pool, the Splashwater Reef Kiddie Pool and the Kona Kooler lazy river. Pups and people can also enjoy games, giveaways and refreshments. The community event offers free admission to active military members, veterans and first responders who reserve a ticket online and show proof of service at the gate.
Noon to 5 p.m. at Hawaiian Falls, 490 Heritage Parkway South, Mansfield. $20 for adults, $15 for children (under 48 inches). One dog is included with adult ticket purchase, $5 for an additional dog with a limit of two dogs per adult.
The Colony
Bow-Wow Luau Hawaiian-themed party at the water park features splash time, contests, games and giveaways. The event benefits The Colony Animal Shelter Injured Animal Fund.
1 to 5 p.m. at Hawaiian Falls, 4400 Paige Road, The Colony. $15 per person in advance, $20 at the gate. Limit of two dogs per owner.
North Richland Hills
Doggie Beach Bash Summer will be oficially over when NRH20 hosts the final doggie splash of the year. Admission includes access to NRH2ocean, Endless River and Beachside Bay. Little dogs and tykes can play in Frogstein’s Splashatory and the Tadpole Swimming Hole. The bash benefits the North Richland Hills Animal Adoptions and Rescue Center.
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at NRH20. $20 for one person and up to two dogs; children 2 and younger get in free with a paid adult.

This year’s doggy swim days, when area pools invite pooches in before they close for the season, have finally arrived. Dogs must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and friendly, and if yours isn’t a strong swimmer, we recommend bringing a doggy life jacket. Dog not a swimmer? There will be lots of playing poolside too. Paws in the Pool-ooza in Cedar Hill: The annual festivities at Crawford Park Pool, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, will include vendors, prizes and a designated area for smaller dogs (25 pounds or less). •The area’s fall K9 Frisbee Toss & FetchLeague begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Bradfield Park football field in Garland, 1150 Castle Drive. Cost is $10 per team (handler and dog) for the entire five-week season. If you have to miss a week or two, that’s OK, and you may play with as many individual dogs that you would like for $10 per dog. Beginners are welcome, and so are kids. Organizers recommend bringing water and a crate or secure leash, and if you have your own discs, feel free to bring them. You don’t need to register, but please join their Facebook group at facebook.com/groups/138231526984026 and R.S.V.P. so they can get a head count.
•The Grand Prairie Farmers Market has a “Dog Daze of Summer” theme this week, with a splash zone dog park and photo and kissing booths. There will also be raffles, pet care information and a vet technician to answer questions. Proceeds from treats and items sold and all donations will benefit Prairie Paws. •You can get a sneak preview of Life in the Doghouse, a documentary about two men who started their own dog rescue group, on Aug. 25 at Studio Movie Grill in Plano, 4721 West Park Blvd. The 5 p.m. showing is $25 for the movie only. Screenings at 6:30, 7 and 7:30 are $70 and include a red carpet meet and greet with the cast and crew, a photo opportunity and a Q&A with the filmmaker and the subjects of the film, who have saved over 10,000 dogs in the last 10 years.
