Some might say the world has changed a bit since March of 2020.
To say that we are seeing a lot of changes, in every area of life would be an understatement. I think we could all agree on that. Things are different and to make matters more interesting, it seems like someone or some thing is really good at stirring the pot. And they stir often.
I like to call these moments of “stirring”, flash polarizations.
A ubiquitous game of culture. Finite games inside of infinite games. A deep dive into Alice in Wonderland can teach us a lot. This classic book was written by Charles Dodgson . . . aka Lewis Carroll. Imagine that. A book written by a mathematician and logician from Oxford who wrote deeply on liquid democracy.
I ask myself daily, which loop am I on?
Recently had an encounter with someone who without a pause of reflection insisted that I vote all Republicans out of office in order to make abortion legal across the land. This person was enraged, emotional and made the assumption to bring up one of the most divisive political talking points without any reason. As I asked this person more questions, the reasoning came down to health. And that a woman should not have to drive state borders to have this procedure performed. And its up to me to make it happen as well as my husband to stand up for women’s health otherwise we are just as culpable as the Repubs.
The conversation or monologue from this person made me glad I was off of Facebook.
I didn’t say much because of the emotional charge, as always, I wanted to have a nuanced discussion on the topic that took away emotion. It’s very hard to find those opportunities. Because as soon as the person said, it was for health reasons then I felt HEALTH should be discussed.
Is abortion the only solution if the health of the pregnant mom/baby is a concern?
I’ll assume my real questions would have been gaslit but here’s just a few of them:
- if health is a concern, how is the stress level?
- how much blue light is being consumed? How much screen time v. how much time in natural light?
- are bioengineered foods from the grocery store being consumed?
- is the person meditating? are they living intentionally?
- do they wear sunglasses, glasses, contacts OR do they allow for sunlight to enter their eyes through morning sungazing?
- how much news do they consume?
- did they get enough naps in their childhood or were they rushed form one activity to the next? was the person in daycare? did they have a schedule that allowed for rest?
- how much alcohol and sugar do they drink?
- any parasite or heavy metal detoxes recently?
- did their city governement install a smart meter on their home providing extra radiation?
- do they partake in drugs? I’m asking about all drugs – street AND rockefeller prescribed?
- do they live with a higher calling or purpose?
- do they sweat consistently?
- how is their oxygen level? Or have they worn a mask for 4 years?
I find it intriguing that most rockefeller trained doctors rarely ask the lifestyle questions yet are quick to prescribe drugs and in this case, abortions. Before you completely cancel me, I am not saying too much about pro this or pro that, what I am asking are the nuanced questions about other solutions to health.
Life is nuanced. And we all seem to be arguing headlines when in reality there are sub headlines or H2, H3, H4, H5, H6 in the html world.
As someone who is neither liberal nor conservative, Democrat nor Republican . . . but rather very crunchy, well-traveled, ex-NPR listener ( i think there is a large group of us lol) and a traditional slow liver. OR something like that. Life is too nuanced for one label IMO. A perfect day would be foraging in the woods for cleavers and sow thistle, gardening with my dogs by my side and then grabbing a lobster bisque and a ginger peach tea at Nordstroms after grabbing the latest FarmRio dress (and maybe snagging a candle from Dyptique next door). Maybe dropping off an application at the Dallas Country Club? No, maybe . . nah. I think they would take one look at my thrifted peach skirt as I attempt to channel Rose Nylund from Golden Girls, topped off with my organic homemade herbal deodorant might deter me from making those heartfelt connections. Oh well. Maybe in another life DCC.
So am I playing frogger in the pathways within Dallas?
I find myself constantly navigating the obstacles of flash polarizations – liberals think I am conservative while conservatives think I am liberal. On a daily basis, I receive texts of verbal explosions in my messages, encounters, get togethers of an “attack of the teams”. As if I am going to side one way or another. One convo wants me to love RFK Jr. and another wants me to hate Trump while another wants me to fully embrace Simulation theory.
And so I find myself playing Frogger in real life.
Some days it feels like dodge ball.
While others is a just a day full of comic relief as I try to navigate these conversations and point out overarching themes. Like ants in a maze, we all seem to be set on our pathways.
Life, much like Frogger, is a constant game of dodging and leaping. I constantly navigate this increasingly polarized world, from politics to religion and gender to name a few. My responses sometimes demand quick responses, sometimes no responses and in some scenarios I take careful jumps. Successfully navigating today’s world while attempting to create bridges while remaining hinged takes a keen perspective and a calm mind.
Every now and then, there’s a helpful log or a turtle for a brief rest, but the string current never truly stops. The ultimate goal? Reaching the other side, whatever that may represent for you, with both agility and a little luck.
Intelligence perhaps.
I think we are all dealing with a damaged culture of idealism and foolishness that is trying to upend this neighborhood, city, county, state, country, continent and overall culture of common sense and critical thinking.
We are unkonwingly or knowingly eroding dialogue while the powers that be have stigmergic control over us pushing us into teams. Teaming is their game which seems painfully obvious at this point. Culture is a game. And the loops are both finite and infinite. Each day “they” drop a new flash polarization that sends ants scurrying and screaming.
How to proceed in this daily game of Frogger?
I’ll play Frogger because ultimately I am trying to figure out how not to react so emotional to what I can only interpret as someone locked into one pathway. Although at the same time I have noticed a concerning cognitive decline. I have to keep reminding myself we have been pushed into a pathway, myself included as this war on consciousness continues.
I am guilty of getting played too. One of my players, is the recent death of my father and my 2 dogs within weeks of each other. As I look into deeper levels of this game that is afoot, I am invested in healing my nervous system from a great deal of trauma.
I do think it is a time of BOLD action.
It’s also a time of discernment. A term used heavily in the churches but rarely put into action from my lens.
I am shocked at the number of die hard Christians that ridicule those who supported Trump calling them some of the most horrific names. And then also hear it about Biden. I think the Bible clearly says something about loving our neighbors. But then again, I am no Bible expert. And I am quite fallible myself.
(note: please allow room for people to evolve and change. I am not the same person I was 2 months ago, and 2 months before that and . . . people can lean one way then change their mind then change it again.)
I also think it is a time to ignore the banners, the flags, signs, bumper stickers and do our best to build bridges. For each one of us, that will be a unique journey if we vote for reconstruction. It doesn’t have to be perfect. My Democrat friends (the ones that didn’t cancel me LOL) come swinging at me and I try to duck and pivot . . then my Republican friends come at me with the same vigor and enthusiasm for their “hero”. I am learning to nod and find the areas I agree on.
I am interested in these ideas:
Ant computer
Social Impact Bonds
Memetics
Digital Twinning
EHR
Neurotheology
Human Capital Finance
Cybernetics & consciousness
Peter Drucker and his role in the mega church movement
…..and the list goes on.
There is always something we can find common ground on friends. Deep down it seems we are all a bit hurt and are quick to lash out.
For me, it is sourdough and the Sourdough Revolution I am quietly attempting to bring to my neighborhood. Essentially, you bake 2 loaves, one for your home and the other to someone else. Not in an attempt to be besties but to build connections. Put a smile on someone’s face hopefully. We are all DIFFERENT. Think of a Christian and a Muslim. They each have their own beliefs and neither is out to convince the other to change religions. Generally speaking. Most are not. They respect each other, understand there are differences and carry on with their day. Surely, we could try this with other belief systems.
To play Frogger successfully and get to the other side, I need to always remind myself to see people’s heart 💗.
When those who speak of inclusivity, be willing to do this? And those who are extremely religious do this as well?
Now I am gonna go give myself a pep talk so I can remind myself we are all on an ant path in an ant computer and overall, many of us just need a hug.
