Spring is in the air. Sort of.
By that, I mean there are plenty of warm days, our heat has officially been turned off and any free moment is spent running over to the Lowe’s in Murphy for soil and mulch and of course walking the aisles at Covington’s Nursery and Puckett’s.
(last year’s flower farm in my yard)
Seeds are being started in my greenhouse.
[here are the ones I purchased the most of; I have about 10 of these packets at my house]
Propagated herbs bathe inside of glasses on the window sill while they await transfer to a pot of soil. Meanwhile I’m racing against the sunset each day to make sure I have set myself up for success for a flourishing Spring garden.
(side note: I found herbs repel bunnies from new roses and this has been so helpful)
A few doses of 80 degrees this past week + a heavy dose of sunshine has me over eager. Crossing my fingers that there are no surprise snowpocalypses in March. Are you with me?
Creating beauty in Plano
Creating beauty is very important for me. As someone who lived on the beach on both coasts, I’ve always been surrounded by natural beauty. Living in Plano, I have to remind myself to look for beauty in every nook and cranny. Essentially, bloom where I’m planted. Until we find our perfect piece of land, I am going to continue to create beauty and magic in every corner. Now don’t get me wrong, I have a full day of work each and every day, but I imagine I can operate better and serve my clients more effectively if I maintain my interests and stay true to the creative juices flowing through my veins.
Take note of a few of my David Austin roses – James Galway, Lady of Shalott, Graham Thomas, Princess Alexandria of Kent . . .
With the lack of travel in our household, I’ve leaned in hard to the creativity side of me, it was always there, and in the last 3 years it’s come out in spades. Which then lends itself to garden spades =)
I’ve been devouring a book I discovered at Harrington Library in downtown Plano, Almost Amish. During the last few years, I stepped away from a few of my tech and consulting projects momentarily so I could begin to master (well, certainly not master but improve) the art of simple living and all of the handicrafts that come along with it. Opting out of convenience for projects that require various skill sets and a bit more time and elbow grease.
I’m proud of these changes and fully embrace the pioneer woman side of me. Perhaps you have changed during the last few years and discovered new crafts, skills or hobbies that light a fire inside of you. I secretly hope so and am cheering you on.
Although if you run into me around town, don’t judge me if you see some avocado seed pieces in my hair (yes, as long as we have avos in the house, there will be a DIY avocado project soon after the avocado toast).
I’m going to stick with my new ways and I’ll be sharing more over here instead of just my usual seo style posts. For many years I stepped away from sharing too much of my life. But maybe I’ve changed my mind on that.
For now, my iphone is giving me good news on the weather forecast. I see a smattering of rain and then sunshine in the forecast which means I need to go fill my car up with more fabulous items from Covingtons. Oh, and I have another 3 holes to dig because I forgot about another shipment of David Austin roses coming this afternoon. I hope you found your own creative projects in your life this week that brings you joy and inspiration; keeping you fueled up for creating beauty in your own life.
P.S. I purchased the majority of my seeds from this company and I really like the organization of the packets. On another note, I’ve also heard that another brand called Survival Seeds are an amazing deal, amazing quality plus they teach you how to save the seeds so you end up buying less. I haven’t tried them yet but will probably buy a pack or 2 this Spring.
