Why is Oktoberfest in September?

It began with the Royal Wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig (later KingLudwig) to Princess Therese on October 12, 1810. Five days after the marriage, a large festival was held in front of one of the gates leading to Munich. That festival became an annual celebration and Oktoberfest was born.
