Approximately 25 miles from central Rockwall to downtown Dallas … 29 miles to north Dallas. As the city grows, the time it takes to make that 25 mile commute or 29 mile commute truly varies. San Martiño Winery & Vineyards was established in 2003 and the same year processed by hand their first grapes.

Rockwall County Historical Foundation
The Rockwall County Historical Foundation Museum is located in the 1850 Manson-La Moreaux-Hartman House in Harry Myers Park, Rockwall, Texas. The museum is operated by the Rockwall Country Historical Foundation and features a range of artifacts and memorabilia from the former residents of the Manson-La Moreax-Hartman House as well as other Rockwall County residents.
The Rockwall County Historical Foundation was established in 1978 in order to preserve the heritage of Rockwall County. Some of the ongoing projects of the Foundation are to maintain the home that houses permanent museum and keep it open to the public, to tape oral histories from elderly local residents who lived in the early days of Rockwall County, to preserve the historic districts, sites, structures and objects significant in Rockwall County and much more.

Hemisphere Brewing Company
Established by a group of musicians who had passion and knowledge for brewing beer in a small garage, Hemisphere Brewing grew into a small but passionate brewing company with a reputation for making quality Texas craft beer, balanced and great tasting, innovative and with distinctive characteristics. They moved to their current building in 2014 and opened to the public in 2017. They produce a wide range of beers, from IPA, Kolsch, and Grisette to English Ale, Stout and Porter. The tap room is part of the production facility and has fun, friendly atmosphere with picnic tables, stone bar and live stage for occasional live music. Does Rockwall have any history?
It sure does!
The earliest settlers arrived in Rockwall TX in the early 1840s either on horse, mule-drawn wagons or by foot by way of the National Road of the Republic. And although the East Fork of the Trinity River is usually a welcoming haven for travelers, but when it came to storms and heavy rain, the river can overflow and would make it extremely difficult to cross.
Because of this, many travelers would just stop in this area, originally called Mercer’s Colony, to begin their new life in Texas.
Three men named Boydstun, Wade and Stevenson discovered a rock wall formation when digging a well in the mid-1800’s.
These men suggested naming the town Rockwall after discovering this formation and clearly the name was accepted and the town of Rockwall was planted in April 17, 1854.
Since Rockwall was located in the panhandle of Kaufman County, conducting business meant traveling the long road from Rockwall to Kaufman. In an effort to strengthen and expand business, in Rockwall, the town seceded from Kaufman County, forming its own county in 1873. That same year, the Texas & Pacific Railway built westward across Kaufman County on its way from Longview to Dallas.
