Little Elm TX is a far far north suburb of Dallas and is a very popular place for young families. Kids seem to thrive here.
And although Dallas is the most familiar city near to it, you will find that the city of Denton is a much closer location.
Little Elm Park
The Little Elm Park is a hot spot among kids and parents around town. With a playground, water fountain and plenty of benches it’s the perfect place to take your family on an adventure.
Head over to Little Elm Park for some fun in the sun! This park has everything you need: a playground with slides, monkey bars and swings; a water fountain where kids can splash around or have their fill of refreshment. There

Little Elm Park has things to do for all ages! There is a toddler area, things for kids to climb and do, things to explore like water fountains. The playground is beautiful as well so you can take some amazing photos in this park.
This park is close by to things like shops and restaurants. It makes for a wonderful family outing!

The Beach at Little Elm Park
The beach at Little Elm Park is always jam packed in the Summer. And makes for a super fun Saturday afternoon to enjoy the water, sand and sunshine!
Little Elm has many recreational opportunities for its residents, such as playgrounds, picnic tables and benches. They are running various events at the beach too.
The treasure in Little Elm Texas is the sand, there’s a ton of it for not being on the actual beach. As far as a beach in Texas, this is going to be your best bet and the place you will want to spend every weekend in the Summer.
Hydrous Wakepark
If you love to water ski or if you have always wanted to try but don’t have skis or a boat, then this is the exact place to spend a Saturday.
This is a wakepark, and you can try all of the different amenities they offer and enjoy the outdoor events.
There are three courses to choose from: beginner, intermediate or advanced. The staff will be more than happy to give tips for beginners! Hydrous also has pontoon boats available for rent that hold up to eight people.
Take advantage of things to do in Little Elm Texas while you can! The park is open from 10 am – 6 pm every Saturday and Sunday through October.
The cost is $15/boat or $25/boat for two hours. You have the option to do as many runs on the lake as possible within that time span.
Beard Park
Beard Park is located on the shores of Lake Lewisville, in Little Elm, Texas and is easily accessible on Eldorado Parkway. The address of the park is:

The newly restored Beard Park includes many amenities, from modern restrooms to a nostalgic area with the famed log cabin.
The Little Elm Memorial Park theme connects the past and present with a nostalgic “Family Tree” design, providing residents a place to get in touch with their childhood memories.
If you like to hike or take long walks, the hiking trails are located in the park that meets with the Lakefront Trail and these paths allow anyone to utilize a connected series of routes, which could suit any active routine.
Cottonwood Park Trail
Cottonwood Park is located on the northeastern shoreline of beautiful Lake Lewisville, Texas. The address of the park is:

On the shoreline of Lake Lewisville you can enjoy picnicking at the picnic tables and fishing.
There are hiking trails located just outside the entrance of the park, as well as the Cottonwood Sports Complex. The sports complex has softball and baseball fields (which are reserved for league play), and a public playground that is accessible at all times. There are public restrooms located within Cottonwood Sports Complex.
Texas has no shortage of hiking trails and this is a must hike outdoor exploration site.
Hula Hut Little Elm
Locally owned Hula Hut Little Elm serves great Tex-Mex with a Polynesian twist. The restaurant also offers an authentic island experience and is your home for a good day or night out.
This is a very popular restaurant with great ambiance and such a fun place to meet up with friends.
Lake Lewisville Shoreline Fishing
Lake Lewisville is a massive lake in Texas just north of Dallas and Fort Worth. The fish that are predominant on this lake include:
- Largemouth bass
- Spotted bass
- White & hybrid striped bass
- White crappie
- Blue & channel catfish
If you don’t have a boat, Lake Park also provides an opportunity to fish off of its fishing barge.
The Hidden Creek branch is a perfect spot for a morning of good fishing.
You won’t have to search too far in this area to find a good catch. Its outdoor grocery shopping for food at its best! A fishing trip for food might be more fun than heading to the main market, its always a good idea to be self sufficient and teach your children as well.
Be sure to have the appropriate licenses needed as this is controlled by the government. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will absolutely enforce this.
Frisco Hills Dog Park
When your furbaby needs to run free so you don’t go crazy, this is the spot for you. This dog park has two sections, one for smaller dogs and the other for larger breeds. If your dog is anything like mine, this is one of the best things about living in Little Elm.
I love coming to Frisco Hills Dog Park because it’s so spacious and has a beautiful view of the Dallas skyline.
The large section for larger dogs also includes plenty of room for playing fetch or chasing after tennis balls.
Waterfront Hideaway Ranch
This is Denton County’s newest lodging option on Lake Lewisville, nestled among more than 14 acres of pasture, tree groves, and nearly 800ft of shoreline.
Visitors can come from out of town but I think this is a great staycation option if you love a good adventure near home.
They have cabins or you can stay in your RV since they have a number of RV sites throughout the property.
