Sharon Jones-Scaife is the powerhouse behind Coffee Creek Media Group. Before she arrived in DFW, she spent her days just north of us in beautiful Arkansas. She grew up in Marvell, Arkansas and is the fourth of 15 children!!
She is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a BA in Graphic Design and Illustration.
Here in the DFW area she resides in itty bitty Sachse (near Wylie/Murphy/East Plano area) where she spends her time supporting her son in basketball. And with her boundless energy, she also spends time creating adventures with her grandchildren, running, cycling, lifting, writing, playing softball, and reading.
This is Sharon’s story…
I am the owner of Coffee Creek Media Group. Founded July 16, 2018, Coffee Creek Media Group is an independent, family-owned company headquartered in Sachse, Texas.
Upon graduating from college, I met a friend after moving to Dallas. She was very involved within the community and would need graphic design, printing, and marketing services from time to time. She began using my services and referring others businesses and individuals to me. This is when she encouraged me to start a business and provide my services to other small businesses. As my clientele began to grow, this was confirmation to me that it was time to set my dream into action and take the next step to becoming a business owner. SJS Graphic Arts was founded in October 1994.
I lost my husband, Albert, of more than three decades in 2015, I was devastated by not only my loss, but the effect it had on my 4- and 7-year-old grandchildren.
I was with him for 33 years, and I saw the effect it had on me, and I saw the effect it had on my grandkids as well. Both of them enjoyed spending weekends with their grandfather. He would do a lot of stuff with them like watch cartoons and ride bikes. We talked to them about him having cancer, but when he passed, kids at that age don’t really understand.
I was inspired by the experience to write and illustrate my first children’s book which motivated me to establish Frog Pond Publishing, a publishing company with a simple mission to publish diverse stories that all children could enjoy. In July 2018, Coffee Creek Media Group was later founded to combine three companies under one umbrella. The companies making up Coffee Creek Media Group are:
SJS Graphic Arts:
Founded in 1994, SJS Graphic Arts is a minority/woman-owned business that specializes in design and content of marketing materials, print and web design, and website development. Clients choose us and recommend us for our professionalism, knowledge, responsiveness and creativity.
Teen Graffiti Magazine:

Frog Pond Publishing:
Frog Pond Publishing was founded in 2018 as a division of Coffee Creek Media Group. What’s the one thing that your customers rave about?
The one thing our customers are consistent in raving about and recommend us is for our professionalism, knowledge, responsiveness, creativity, and our ability to engage any client’s target audience in order to inform, educate, motivate and inspire them.
What is the #1 challenge that your clients/customers have when they reach out to you?
Our clients/customers at Coffee Creek Media Group come back to us because of our professionalism, knowledge, responsiveness, and creativity. We bring experience, value, innovation, and credibility, from procurement to project completion.
Did you always have a sense that you’d start your own business or a project of your own?
Yes! Growing up in a small town in Arkansas, I desired to one day become an entrepreneur, along with a host of other career ambitions. Both of my parents were self-employed. My dad was a mechanic, and my mom owned a clothing store. Neither of my parents had a college degree, but the first thing they told us was that we had to do get a college degree, and every one of my siblings have a college degree.
I began my life as an artist and entrepreneur young. I have always drawn. I drew the cartoons out of the newspaper during my study hall period and in my free time. When I was 9 or 10, I started doing self-portraits for family, friends and people within the community. I took pictures and then drew them as portraits. That is how I made money during the summer time.
Upon graduating from college and moving to Dallas, I began freelancing providing graphic design, printing, and marketing services to small business owners within the church and community while working in the graphic design/printing industry. As my clientele began to grow, this was confirmation to me that it was time to set my dream into action and take the next step to become a business owner. SJS Graphic Arts was founded in October 1994, Teen Graffiti Magazine was founded in February 2000 and Frog Pond Publishing and Coffee Creek Media Group were founded in July 2018.
What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day in my life involves managing my clients’ projects; Coffee Creek Media Group (publishing) and SJS Graphic Arts (graphic design and printing) during the day, and writing and illustration children’s books by night while juggling the responsibilities of being a mom and grandmother. Then finishing the day with a workout and yoga.
What is an essential book that you you’ve enjoyed that you think everyone needs to read right away?
Successful Women Think Differently by Valorie Burton is a book that I have enjoyed and think everyone should read.
Habits build excellence and in Successful Women Think Differently, she tells us how to create new thoughts and habits in the different areas of our lives from relationships, work, career, spirituality, and health. She provides discovery into how we can take matters into our own hands and define success on our terms.
First and foremost, my faith and belief in God and then my family (my son and grandkids) is truly my source of motivation. They desire to see me succeed to be the successful business owner I aim to be each day.
Let’s transition to Dallas:
My 3 favorite places include:
1. Anywhere the roads lead that I can explore on a relaxing ride on my bike. #ILoveCycling
2. Trinity Groves
3. Bishop Arts District
Where would you like to have a staycation in the Dallas area?
If I could have dinner with anyone in the world, I would love to have dinner with Michelle Obama. She has such a down to earth personality and she is my idol and is truly an icon. If I was blessed to have this opportunity, Michelle and I would set down for conversation and dinner at Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille in Dallas.
