Plano Balloon Festival is held each September at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve in the city of Plano, Texas. It is one of the city’s largest celebrations, and its been going on for decades. For the full 3 days, people from all over the metroplex and country find their way into this great BIG festival.
The events at the festival vary somewhat from year to year which keeps its interesting!
You will always encounter something new year after year, and you can be guaranteed a new perfect shot of the balloons in the air each year as well.
We really look forward to the new balloons that we will see in the sky! And of course, seeing the hot air balloons that have shown up for decades. A typical schedule includes five hot air balloon launches (weather permitting, please note that the balloons will sometimes not take off) a Kids Fun Zone, a stage showcasing local community acts, live bands Friday and Saturday night, sky divers, fireworks, and balloon night glows on Friday and Saturday evening.
Plano Balloon Festival 2018
Thankfully, we live really, really close to the balloon fest, in fact, when it was held at Bob Woodruff park we would attend all 3 days just walking down the street to it.
We love the Friday night launch, Saturday morning launch (as it always comes through our neighborhood), the Saturday evening launch and of course the balloon glow and massive fireworks show. And then we enjoy one last launch on Sunday morning.

The balloons will launch Friday at 6:00pm, Saturday at 7:00am and 6:00pm, and Sunday at 7:00am and 6:00pm (weather permitting).
Charge your phone, grab your GoPro or DSLR camera and head out early or at sunset for some spectacular photography.
This is such a unique event and awesome activity in Plano Texas, and I hope to see you there!
