Are you ready to put your yard to work? If the idea of expanding your home garden is growing on you – as it has been for many since 2020, it’s easy to find lots of beautiful treasures within DFW at these 5 DFW Nurseries.
5 DFW Nurseries that will Turn your Yard into an Oasis
We’ve included our favorites that we frequent and spend our landscape budget on. We love these Collin County and other Dallas nurseries for their inspiring landscapes, customer service and their passion for bringing their small businesses to our neighborhoods.
This season, we invite you to support local nurseries and garden centers that help DFW homeowners turn their yards into an oasis.
1.Covingtons Nursery
Located just off othe George Bush Freeway, you might have passed it thousands of time without knowing this incredible gem that sits of the Laskeside exit. This is our #1 spot because its freaking amazing PLUS it’s the closest to our home in Plano. If you are in the Murphy/Richardson/Wylie/East Plano area, this is an easy one to get to. And, you can reward yourself at Modern Well right after.
2. Shades of Green
This Frisco nursery and garden center is set up on 7 acres for you and your family to explore. And if you have kids in tow then they will enjoy seeing other features on their property such as a stream, a barn, a windmill, and more. A visit to Shades of Green Nursery + Landscape is about more than plant shopping.

🍃 FERTILIZER TIPS:
1. Save your egg shells.
We dry out our eggshells from the eggs we buy at Lavon Farms and grind them up.
2. Coffee grounds
Save your own coffee grounds or ask your local coffee shop if they have used coffee grounds.
Hint: if you look in the window of Shoemaker and Hardt in downtown Wylie, they will usually have big bags available.
3. Banana Peel fertilizer
Save those banana peels in a jar filled with water
We use these jars ➡️ here are the JARS. Then tuff with peels + we add clean water from our Berkey.
