If you like having pictures of your pets around the house, or if you just want to max out your camera roll, then this is something that you should add to your Fall bucket list. Fall Photography with your dog in Dallas is something that should be on every Dog Mom’s list of things to do this season.
Fall is in the air and I have visions of autumn-colored sweaters paired with comfy jeans and boots and exploring all of the metroplex with Dutch & Dewey.
11 Fall Photography Spots with your Dog in Dallas
Being big fans of the outdoors and trails, we don’t get to spend much time on them during the Summer . . you know, heat and snakes are just no fun.
Fall is a great time for dog photography in Dallas. The leaves change and the air seems to lighten up tremendously as the days go on. Long gone are the days where you walk outside and it feels like someone has put a blow dryer in your face. 🤗
This means that it’s an ideal season for capturing your pets with these autumnal colors as your backdrop. And because of this, you should plan on heading out to one or all of these locations over the coming months.
Also, because my Dutch & Dewey are extremely energetic, I added a few small and budget-friendly tools to my photography arsenal like this hand held, such a game changer!
Although Dutch has enough focus to get ready for Halloween ⤵️
Here are 11 spots to head out and snap that fun Instagram with your furbaby:
1. Historic Water Station Trail in Allen
Take a stroll through history as you visit the interpretive trail at Allen’s Old Stone Dam, built in 1874 to power steam locomotives
We usually park near the Hydrous Ski park and walk towards the trail head. Within 15 minutes of walking down this trail and you’ll be at the railroad tracks.
2. Oak Point Preserve
Near the City of Plano park admin offices you will find a few beautiful rocky spots by the pond, bridges and a boardwalk trail that always show off Fall foliage.
3. Haggard Park in Downtown Plano
A classic park in downtown Plano, we love getting pics by the rail car or in the gazebo.
4. Pecan Grove Park in Rowlett
5300 Main St, Rowlett, TX 75088
5. RCP in Rowlett
Rowlett Creek Preserve is one of our all-time favorite mountain biking trails. In addition to mountain biking, this trail can also be used for hiking with your dog (be sure to go backwards so you can see oncoming bicycles). The trees are abundant and the tree by the picnic spot is the most perfect tree for family pics. When you see it, you’ll know!
6. Prairie Creek Park
A serene creek with a waterfall runs through this wooded, linear park with trails & picnic tables. This is another hidden spot, if you find it, you will love it!!
7. Arbor Hills park in Plano
I think the observatory tower makes this park a little extra special.
Just 5 minutes west of Dallas Parkway on Parker Road.
8. Cedar Hill State Park
A bit of a drive but a perfect place to hike with your pooch on the weekend.
9. Parker Barn
An epic and accessible barn (plus short trail) that we love taking our Model A to for picnics.
I think I let of Collin County know about this spot a few years ago so know that during golden hour it will be packed with photographers.
10. Goar Park in University Park
11. Waterloo Regional in Denison
One of our all time favorite places to hike with the dogs and snap some pics.
I’ll have to add some pictures back to this blog post but I just cleaned up my camera roll and I’ll have to dig a bit more. 😂
This park has 2 dog parks, a lake to kayak on, caves and amazing hiking trails with the best Fall foliage.
What’s even better?
After your photography session or hike with your dog, you can head a mile east and you will be in Downtown Denison. We love the coffee shop on Main Street – try the 410 Collective or Revolution Coffee Co (it’s moved toward the end of Main street) or having a quick bite on the patio of Cafe Blackbird. If you want to be able to have a little more space while you are having a bite, then head over to Hidden Hangar Winery about 5 miles away. They love dogs!
I could share countless more photography spots with your dog in Dallas, but I have two anxious pups who want some attention at the moment. 🙂 So I hope these locations give you something to research more and plan for your upcoming evenings and weekends.
