In the Dallas metropolitan area, there are a plethora of things to do and places to visit. One such place is Carrollton Texas! Whether you want to explore their rich history or enjoy some time in nature, Carrollton has something for everyone! This blog post will highlight 9 things to do in Carrollton that you should try when visiting this north Dallas city.
Carrollton Texas is a great place to live and one of our favorite cities to visit for the day or try a new restaurant for a date night. There are many things to do in the area, and it is easy to get around (plus they have DART). Here are 11 of my favorite activities that I think you should try out when you visit Carrollton:
Historic Downtown Carrollton
The historic downtown is where you will experience the best Carrollton atmosphere. This cute little square has a gazebo in the middle and surrounded by many shops, restaurants and even has access to the Green Line (DART train).
What I love about historic downtown is that it is full of non-chain restaurants, cafes, and cute little antique shops, all great for a weekend visit.
People who have been here recommend a stop at the candy store and Twisted Root Burger. Babe’s Chicken Dinner House is not to be missed either, for a tasty homestyle meal. There are many things to do in Carrollton and the downtown square will provide an endless supply of shops and attractions.
Sandy Lake Amusement Park
The Sandy Lake Amusement Park is the perfect place for families to spend a day. Whether you’re looking to have some family fun or just need an escape from your kids, this amusement park has it all!
You can board one of their paddle boats and explore the lake while taking in everything that’s happening on land or take a spin on bumper cars with friends before heading over towards pony rides and merry-go-rounds where little ones will be sure to enjoy themselves. If adults prefer not get so involved then they can stay shaded as they relax at our picnic tables watching children enjoying games like tea cups or mini Ferris wheels until everyone meets up again.
Plenty of Golf
We have found golf in every nook and cranny in the 75007, especially fond of the indoor driving range we found off of Old Denton tucked inside a shopping village.
If the outdoors is more your style, then head to The Highlands Performance Golf Center. Enjoy their 18 hole, par 3 mini golf course. The newly renovated and beautifully landscaped course was designed to challenge players of all skills and abilities. They also offer junior programs and summer camps for kids who show an interest in the game of golf.
Rosemeade Recreation Center
There’s nothing like a recreation day and things to do all year round and that’s why the Rosemeade Recreation Center should be on your Carrollton list too.
The Rosemeade Recreation Center offers a wide variety of sports and fitness activities in an interactive environment. Located on the 28-acre, evergreen park at 1330 East Rosemeade Parkway near Old Denton Road, their friendly staff is always available to answer any questions you may have about what’s offered inside or outside this place!
The 44000 square foot building has 2 gyms, full sized basketball & volleyball courts, weights, facility game room, 4 racquetball courts, classrooms . . .
AND the RAINFOREST!
The Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex is a must visit in the summer. You’re kids will just LOVE this place to have fun, cool off and get rid of some of that energy.
The Rainforest section features a zero-depth entry pool, two platform levels with bridge, water cannons, bubblers, spray bars, water slides, a 200 foot lazy river and a 600 gallon dump bucket. The newly remodeled Main Pool section consists of a shaded toddler splash pool, a zero-depth entry activity pool with a depth of 4 feet, a 25-meter lap pool with eight lanes, a diving well, and two 22 foot-tall water slides.
The facility also includes a newly remodeled bathhouse and concession stand, deck space, picnic tables, lounge chairs, shaded areas and plenty of parking.

Located just northwest of Dallas and east of Irving, Carrollton is home to an array of local restaurants.
Carrollton is also home to one of DFW’s two Koreatowns, which means that everything from Korean barbecue to bibimbap to juk is on offer. And of course, Carrollton’s classic restaurants, like Babe’s Chicken Dinner House, are still the best and great for the budget.
