Exactly where is Celina located in this great big state?
Halfway between Dallas and the Oklahoma border, Celina is situated near the popular town of McKinney, Frisco and Prosper.
It sits twenty miles north of Frisco on state highway 289 and is conveniently located right on the Dallas North Tollway extension.
Celina is located on the northernmost tip of Collin County which is the county north of Dallas. This is not a good city to reside in if you need to commute to Dallas or Downtown Dallas. The commute would be horrendous.
However, the location of this town is perfect if your life resides within it’s city limits for the majority of activities your family participates in.
I encourage you to explore outside the HOA style communities here and take the drive from Downtown Celina towards Pilot Point (or even the other way towards Weston) – its such a beautiful country drive and I think you will love it.
And as far as finances…

The City of Celina is a great place to live and raise a family
Celina is a small town with just over 12,000 residents and has plenty to offer new arrivals. There are several parks in the area for families as well as many activities that can be found nearby. The city of Celina was founded back in 1855 by settlers from Kentucky who were looking for land
There are plenty of places to enjoy the outdoors in Celina Texas
The parks and recreational areas are a big part of what make Celina so great for families, singles, retirees, or really anyone looking to live in an area where they can enjoy the outdoors. There’s plenty of green space with walking trails as well as sports complexes like basketball courts, soccer fields and more!
If you have kids I would check out this park in Celina – Old Celina Park or Founders Stations Park.
Old Celina Park is a great place to visit during the day. Founders Station Park is more for evening and night time activities, such as hiking or biking at dusk.
You can find anything you need in town
Write about all of the resources for shopping and more in Celina Texas.
The main shopping area is on Main Street in a quaint downtown that has something for everyone. There are plenty of boutiques, antique stores and even some gourmet food shops to explore. You can find anything you need in town: hardware supplies or clothing or your favorite flavors from the ice cream shoppe next door — it’s all here
Residents love living here because they know that it’s safe and quiet, and there’s no traffic or noise pollution
People love living here because they know that it’s safe and quiet, and there’s no traffic or noise pollution. Not only is Celina a beautiful place to live, but the cost of living is lower than other areas in the DFW area. There are many different housing options available for rent or purchase- all within city limits. And most likely, you will discover many master planned communities in this suburb.
Here’s the BIG QUESTION though . . .
Will Celina remain small, peaceful and quiet?
With the City’s plans to expand this town and make it the next Frisco, it is very doubtful. I would plan on the evolution of this town being small and quaint to be a typical busy suburb like any other suburb in Houston or Dallas.
Of course, that won’ happen overnight but over the next 5 – 10 years expect massive growth.
It has a small-town feel but offers city conveniences
In contrast to the above point, Celina still has a small town feel. It is a great place to raise children with schools that are highly rated, but it also offers big city conveniences like shopping malls, grocery stores, movie theaters and restaurants.
Celina has been making the list of “top places to live” since 2009 because people know they can find a nice home.
If you are looking for shopping spots with all of your favorite stores, plan to head to Prosper where you can find stores such as Hobby Lobby, Kohl’s or Field & Stream. If you head a bit further south you will discover Frisco which has exploded in retail and restaurants. Find everything you need in Downtown Frisco, the Stonebriar Centre if you need your Nordie’s fix or to the shops at Starwood.

I would recommend the following neighborhoods in Celina:

How do you select the right neighborhood for your family?
This is a tough question to answer. There are many things that go into selecting the right neighborhood for your family, including:
- The school district you want
- Your budget
- Where do you work?
- What amenities does the community offer?
- How close do I need to be to my office/workplace or children’s school
Where to find jobs in and around Celina Texas
If you are looking for a part time job, you will find plenty of opportunities in Celina. If you are looking for full time jobs, then your best bet would be to look towards Frisco or West Plano – any further than Plano would be a pretty tough commute. And yes, that includes Downtown Dallas. Its way too far.
Keep in mind, I am not a realtor, moving company or mortgage company which means I have no reason to stretch the truth saying that Dallas or DFW airport is just down the road.
These places are NOT just down the road.
