I remember eating a sweet potato with brisket at Pecan Lodge when it had just opened at the Dallas Farmer’s Market. OMG. That was pure deliciousness!
Anyway, cut to today, and Pecan Lodge has moved into its own stand alone restaurant with a long, long line waiting outside of it then winding its way through the restaurant. I get it, barbecue requires a little patience. And although you could wait in line at Pecan Lodge BBQ in Dallas, you might fine these lovely BBQ places around the metroplex can deliver just as much happiness and deliciousness.
Don’t Want To Stand In Line At Pecan Lodge BBQ? Here Are 6 Other Great Options in DFW
Hard Eight BBQ (Coppell)
A perfect stop after picking up guests at DFW airport.
Tender Smokehouse (Celina)
Voted No. 2 in the nation and when I ask about BBQ on my page, Tender is the name that you’ll see most.
Hutchins BBQ (McKinney)
The line is pretty steady but it moves fast. And with the newly expanded restaurant, they can move a lot more customers through the BBQ line and ultimately getting more BBQ into our bellies 😀
Intrinsic Smokehouse & Brewery (Garland)
Great beer, great brisket and a cool ambience – an awesome place for dinner on the Garland Square.

Winners BBQ (east Plano)
This one is close to us and Plano’s best kept secret. Shhhh . . don’t tell anyone!
Dynamite BBQ (Murphy)
This one man show is a hit on the Plano/Murphy border at Jacob’s Spirits on 544. He usually shows up on Fridays and Saturdays and sets up in the parking lot, but you may want to call the store to see if you can discover his hours. And yes, get the chicken, trust me! And the brisket. BTW, Jacob’s Spirits has a pretty awesome craft beer selection to wash that brisket down.
