Ever drive through historic downtown McKinney and wish you could peek into those cozy quaint homes?
Well y’all, you can do exactly that at the McKinney Annual Holiday Tour of Homes.
Last year, Brian and I opted for tickets at the last minute and treated ourselves to such a fun day in Downtown McKinney. We spent time in adorable Chestnut Square, toured beautifully decorated homes (wishing my home could be done up like this) and grabbed an early dinner at Rye. BTW, how happy are y’all with the fact that Rye is open again??? So good!!!
Anyway . . .
Back to the McKinney Annual Holiday Tour of Homes:
Every Texan takes great pride in decking their halls for any holiday or special gathering, but Christmas is the Superbowl of holiday decorating for most proud home dwellers.
For those of us wanting to be inspired on how to decorate for Christmas, this tour will have you at the closest Christmas store or Hobby Lobby ASAP. If you’re like us, we’ll just enjoy the beauty of others who have put in the work since we keep our holiday decor to just a wreath and a maple syrup clean burning candle (we love this one!) Regardless of what your reasoning is, you’ll enjoy the heck out of each uniquely designed and decorated home on this showcase. There is something for all – classic, modern, rustic, and colorful.
How did it get started?
In 1973, five families opened their homes for the very first Holiday Tour of Homes, benefiting the Heritage Guild of Collin County. The Collin McKinney House in Finch Park was also included.
In past years, they’ve celebrated this wonderful tradition – with five beautiful historic residences, including:
- A remodel of one of McKinney’s most beloved turn of the century stunners
- A 60’s bungalow with a recent second story addition
- A new build brick Tudor traditional
- A 1915 Arts & Crafts in a unique setting
- A mid-century French Farmhouse on a creekside lot
This year, the 45th Annual Holiday Tour of Homes will be on December 1. You can find more info on their page right here
This is the house that has the phone booth in the front yard, we loved exploring this home!
This was such a fun way to get into the holiday spirit and we think you will love it too =)
May all your seasons be merry in your brightly decorated at home (or someone else’s).
Have a holly, jolly Christmas season.
